Wings Add Estonian Forward, Rooba, to Development Camp Roster

The Red Wings have announced a change to their 2012 development camp roster adding Robert Rooba. The 6-foot-3, 198 pound left wing replaces Vladislav Shalimov who will no longer be attending.

Rooba, who is a client of former Red Wing Igor Larionov, played last year for the Espoo Blues junior team in Finland where he scored 14 goals and 30 points in 39 games. Plans Take Shape for Bryan Rufenach Day – July 10th

Bryan Rufenach, despite his recent tragic and untimely death while traveling through Europe, will continue to be a huge part of the 2012 Detroit Red Wings Development Camp.  The 23-year-old defenseman was a seventh round selection of the Red Wings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and signed a contract last season with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL.  Rufenach spent a majority of the 2011-12 season with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL where he collected 13 goals and 33 points in 54 games. Red Wings Invite Ten to Development Camp

The Detroit Red Wings have invited ten free agents to their annual Development Camp in Traverse City beginning July 7th.

Among those auditioning are Red Wing draft choice Julien Cayer, who will become a free agent on August 15th and is unlikely to sign with Detroit, Michael Babcock, Jr and NCAA championship winning goalie Parker Milner.

The Detroit Red Wings have announced their 2012 development camp roster to be held at Centre I.C.E. Arena in Traverse City, MI beginning on July 7th. The team features  all of the Red Wings draft choices from the 2012 draft including Martin Frk, Jake Paterson, Andreas Athansiou, Mike McKee, James DeHaas, and Rasmus Bodin. Bryan Rufenach’s tragic death hit the hockey world hard. When news surfaced about his accidental death while traveling Europe, his teammates, friends and fans throughout the Red Wings organization offered help and support to his grieving family. From Demolition Man to Grand Marshal

Tomas Holmstrom will serve as the Grand Marshal for the DTE Energy Cherry Royale parade on Saturday July 14th in Traverse City, MI. The parade, which is the largest of the Cherry Festival parades, will begin at 11:15 am at Railroad and Front streets in downtown Traverse City, MI.

The Detroit Red Wings will host their annual prospects development camp at the Centre I.C.E. Arena in Traverse City, MI again this year. This year’s camp will begin on July 7 and run through the 14th. Finding His Inner Mule: Franzen Still Struggling to Find His Post Season Form

When the playoffs roll around, Johan Franzen is usually a game breaker for the Red Wings. Just three games into the 2012 playoffs and the 6-foot-3, 218 pound winger has yet to establish himself.
